About the Merit Badge
The International Quilt Museum Badge encourages scouts to explore the global dimensions of quilting by visiting the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. This badge aims to broaden Scouts’ perspectives on quilting, showcasing its diverse expressions and the various cultural narratives captured through this art form.
Requirements
- Plan and participate in a trip to the International Quilt Museum. If unable to visit in person, coordinate a virtual tour or participate in an online educational session offered by the museum.
- While at the museum or during the virtual tour, engage with at least one educational program or workshop that deepens your understanding of international quilting styles and techniques.
- Select and study three quilts from different cultural backgrounds or historical periods featured at the museum. Take notes on the construction techniques, design elements, and cultural significance of each.
- Reflect on the experience and discuss how what you learned could influence your future quilting projects or your understanding of cultural expressions through art.
