About the Merit Badge
The National Quilt Museum Badge is designed to enrich scouts’ understanding of quilting as an important cultural and artistic practice. By visiting the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, scouts are given the opportunity to view firsthand an expansive collection of modern and antique quilts, enhancing their appreciation for the diversity and evolution of quilting techniques and styles.
Requirements
- Plan and participate in a trip to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky. If a physical visit is not possible, arrange for a virtual tour or session with museum staff.
- During the visit, attend at least one guided tour or educational program offered by the museum to gain detailed insights into the exhibits and featured artists.
- Select three quilts or exhibitions that particularly inspire or interest you. Document these quilts through notes or photographs (if photography is permitted).
- Reflect on how this visit has impacted your view of quilting and any new techniques or ideas you would like to explore in your own quilting projects.
