Camp isn’t camp without snacks. They keep us fueled, cozy, and just a little nostalgic while we sew. But here’s the thing: not all snacks are sewing friendly. Sticky fingers + fresh fabric = a camp catastrophe. So I’ve rounded up the best Quilt Scout–approved snacks for Quilt Camp. Think easy, mess-free, and totally camp vibes. Let’s dive in!

Section 1: Trail Mix Recipes for Every Scout 🥾

Trail mix is the OG camp snack—endlessly customizable and perfect for stashing in your sewing corner.

General Instructions: For all trail mix recipes below, simply combine the listed ingredients in a large bowl, stir gently to mix, then portion into mason jars, zipper bags, or any airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to one week (if it lasts that long!).

🔥 Classic Campfire Crunch

A timeless combo for when you want a no-fuss snack that hits every craving.

  • 1 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup mini pretzels
  • 1 cup M&Ms (or your favorite chocolate candies)
  • ½ cup sunflower seeds

🍫 S’mores Mix (Scout Favorite!)

It’s Quilt Camp, so you know s’mores had to make an appearance.

  • 2 cups Golden Grahams cereal
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
  • ½ cup honey-roasted peanuts (optional, for crunch)

🥾 High-Energy Blend

Perfect for those long sewing sessions that require serious fuel.

🍿 Campfire Popcorn Mix

đźź« DIY Trail Bars (aka Scout Squares)

  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup chopped trail mix (nuts, dried fruit, chocolate)

Instructions: In a saucepan, warm the peanut butter + honey until smooth. Stir in oats and trail mix. Press into an 8×8-inch pan lined with parchment paper. Chill for 1–2 hours, then cut into bars.

🧀 Mini Veggie + Cheese Packs

  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese cubes
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks

  • ½ cup dried cranberries

Instructions: Mix oats, honey, and oil. Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 325°F for 25 minutes, stirring once. Let cool completely, then break into chunky clusters. Stir in cranberries.

🔥 Trail S’mores Snack Bags

  • 1 cup Teddy Grahams (or mini graham crackers)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions: Divide into 4 zipper bags—one for each cabin mate, or keep them all for yourself (we don’t judge).

Section 3: Pro Tips for Sewing Snacks ✂️

Snacking while sewing is an art form. Here are some pro-level Quilt Scout tricks—with mini “recipes” for keeping things clean.

🧻 Camp Napkin Stash

  • Keep a stack of napkins or a damp cloth nearby. Wipe fingers before touching fabric.
  • Prep ahead by rolling napkins and tucking them into a mason jar for easy grab-and-go.

🥤 Scout Sips

  • Sparkling water + a splash of fruit juice
  • Herbal tea + honey
  • Hot cocoa + mini marshmallows (for max camp vibes)

Instructions: Pour into a spill-proof travel mug so one rogue elbow doesn’t end in fabric disaster.

🎒 Portion Packs

  • Mason jars, zipper bags, or small bento boxes
  • Pre-portion snacks before sewing so you don’t get caught elbow-deep in a family-size bag of pretzels.

Scout Tip: Use washi tape + labels to decorate your portion packs. Feels like an activity and keeps your sewing space tidy.

âś‹ One-Hand Wonders

Choose snacks you can grab with one hand:

  • Energy bites
  • Granola clusters
  • Trail mix jars

This keeps your other hand free for sewing, scrolling, or high-fiving your cabin mates.
